We understand firsthand the magic of sitting atop a horse, feeling that incredible connection as you become one with them. It‘s a truly unique experience. That‘s why our top priority is to honor your horse, supporting and enhancing their health and well–being every step of the way.
During our first visit, we’ll review your horse’s level of physical activity and discuss the areas you’d most like to focus on. This session will include the use of a Thermal Imaging Camera to detect heat and inflammation, helping us create a personalized treatment plan. We take extra time to ensure your horse feels comfortable throughout the process.
The handheld cryo device is connected to a 20lb Co2 tank by a long hose and when in use, makes a gentle whooshing noise, similar to an air hose. A cool mist envelops the area being treated. Horses that are regularly handled or accustomed to bathing or clippers usually don’t mind the sound.
The cryo device comes with four different nozzle heads, each designed for a specific purpose. If your horse shows any signs of nervousness, we’ll switch to a noiseless cold press (dome) nozzle to ensure a calm and positive experience.
Cryotherapy is a specialized treatment, and to accurately assess its progress, we recommend that other forms of bodywork be done on alternate days.
How To Prepare For Your Cryotherapy Session
To provide the most accurate thermal readings and effective cryotherapy treatments, please follow these preparation steps:
- Have your horse in the barn/stall, dry, clean, and free of mud. It is very important that your horse’s coat be dry and free of moisture.
- Do not bathe your horse on the day of the appointment.
- Do not use hoof paint, oil, fly spray, or coat conditioner.
- Remove any type of sheet, blanket, or leg coverings.
Please ensure that you are present and prepared to hold your horse in a dry, safe, and open space, whether indoors or outdoors.
